This time, the Strobist told everyone to only use one light, combined with reflections.

This was the setup:

SB-600 at full power, gridded pointing to the iron. Background light provided by the aluminum foil.
I didn’t use mirrors as I wanted a softer light. I finally found a fun use for an iron

The weather was wonderful this weekend. The nice day ended with an even nicer sunset.

The lock in battel

The exams are over, I hope I’ll have more time from now on to come up with fresh pictures.
Quite close to my door, there’s a lock. Ever since I drove over the bridge next to it, I felt I had to take a picture of it. Today, I finally did.
I’m not sure if I’d have had a better result when I had gone for a higher iso number and a smaller aperture. It was too cold to find out

photography time = 1 – (work + school + tennis). Not much time left at the moment
This is my first try with the cactus triggers I got for christmas from my girlfriend (how cool’s that?).
Gridded SB26 on camera right at 2 meters to lighten up the front, diffused SB600 at 20cm behind the bottle to get the special effects.

Christmas time

It’s that time of the year when my girlfriend puts a bunch of stacked green plastic snippets in the living room of our appartment. She likes to call it a christmas tree.

Shot on the kitchen table with the camera stopped down to get rid of the ambient light. Two strobes were used: a snooted SB-600 on the close left (30cm) at 1/64 CLS triggered. SB-26 on the far right (2 meters) at 1/32 optically triggered.

Sinterklaas

On December 6, it’s Sinterklaas in Belgium. During the night, the holy man brings chocolate and toys to all the good kids. This year, I was one of them as you can see in the picture
.
update: If you want to see a picture of a real chocolate Sinterklaas, you should check out Jürgen Doom’s weblog.

Greek vase
December 3, 2007 | Filed Under photos | 2 Comments
This authentic Greek vase (worth about 2 euro), was standing on a cabinet in the living room. The vase itself was lit by the pop-up flash, while the background was whitened by targeting my optical-triggered SB-26 on the wall behind. It was my first test-shot with th SB-26 I bought in the morning.

Yellow corner

Taken on a saturday morning in Budapest. The sun was shining in parallel with the street, causing nice shadows that detailed the levels and textures on the walls. It’s the same effect as the Strobist taught me, but this time with real sunlight.

This picture is not the nicest one I’ve ever taken, but I think it’s a nice response to all the people telling the Nikkor 18-200VR optics are crap. It might not be 100% laboratory tested distortion free, but when you’re on a citytrip, it’s just the perfect lens for me.
